Residents, Families and Partners,
We need your help! Our county remains in the Moderate phase which means visitation is still limited as the county’s COVID numbers are still too high. We need all residents, families and friends to please adhere to our visitation rules as they are in place for the safety of all.
Over the past weekend, we had to turn away several families who did not follow the visitation rules that we had sent out on September 17th. This is difficult on all involved. As a reminder, if visitation rules are not followed, we have the right to refuse any future visitation. I would hate to have to enforce this.
If you have special circumstances, please call and speak to me directly, and I will see how we can accommodate. Do not come to the community without a scheduled visit as we have to make sure we have staff available for sanitization and screenings. If at any time you have a question about visitation, please call the main number Monday-Friday 8-4:30.
I will aim to simplify and remind everyone of the rules:
- First, ask yourself do you have proof of a negative COVID test within the last week or are you willing to undergo weekly COVID tests?
- If the answer is no, you will not be able to have indoor visitations at this time.
- If you have had a negative test result within the last week and you have self-isolated from time of test until the visit, you may schedule a 15 minute in room visit.
- No signs or symptoms of the virus, nor contact with anyone with a positive diagnosis within a period of time from the test.
- The only exception to this rule is if you are visiting someone for compassion care. Compassion care mainly includes actively dying or seriously declining residents. These must be approved by the Executive Director or Wellness Director only.
- If you do not have a negative COVID Test result within the week, you may schedule an outdoor visit only, Monday-Friday during regular business hours 9 am thru 3 pm. Please allow 24 hours for the activities department to return your call. These visits will be limited to 30 minutes to allow ample time to clean, screen and have space available to other residents. Limited weekend outdoor visits may be scheduled with our Activities Director only based on staffing.
- No resident will be allowed to leave the community for a visit. We must be able to trace who our residents have been in contact with if we have a case of COVID outbreak.
In addition to the above, guidelines, on October 1st, the State introduced a designated visitor guidance which has very specific rules that must be followed. We have been able to update our policies and procedures and can explain to anyone who would like to qualify. These changes include:
- Each resident is allowed to designate two persons to visit within the community but must sign attestations and qualify.
- The main qualifier is that weekly ongoing COVID testing for the designated visitors must be done. This is the responsibility of the visitor and you must have written proof of negative test results at each visit.
- There are other specifics that can be explained if you call to set up a qualifying meeting.
We are working hard to remain COVID recovered, but we need your help. Please know we are doing everything we can to keep our community safe. We ask you to continue to encourage all residents to wear masks when they are out of their rooms. All visitors must be screened, Wash hands prior to visit, wear masks and social distance at all times while in the facility or interacting with residents during an outdoor visit. As much as we want to hug our loved ones, we must still keep distant to keep them safe.
Until we have guidance from the local health department and CDC that it is safe to make changes and we feel confident that we have good procedures in place to lessen the chance for a new outbreak, we are not able to ease up on some of the restrictions imposed and broaden the times for visitation. Please be patient during this phase.
We will communicate any changes in re-opening plans once they are ready to be implemented, but in the meantime, we are continuing our efforts to ensure our residents remain active and connected as outlined in previous communications.
Please continue to reach out with questions, concerns, or requests for assistance. If you have specific concerns about your loved ones’ condition, especially in regards to COVID-19, please contact us, and we can work with you and your loved one about the need for testing and arranging to do it in house to prevent any unnecessary exposure leaving the building.
