COVID-19 News Update

January 13, 20221

Dear Residents and Families:

We wanted to provide you the latest information on what is going on in our Community related to COVID.

We currently have 12 residents that had tested positive for COVID who remain in house on isolation protocols.  We have only 4 staff that tested positive that are finishing their quarantine period a home as we determine their return-to-work dates based on CDC and local health department recommendations.

We will continue mass testing of staff and residents until we have a period of time that we have no new positive staff or residents.  At that time, we can determine if any current restrictions regarding visitation, group activities or communal dining may be lifted.

The great news is that we have our initial vaccination clinics scheduled for our residents and staff.  The first will occur on January 20, 2021 with the second dose to be given on February 17.  We will be providing subsequent clinics to allow future new residents and staff to be vaccinated.  Again, remember that benefits from the vaccine will not be experienced until sometime after the second vaccination.

We will be sending out and collecting all needed consent forms from residents and residents’ responsible parties for administration of the vaccine.  Please look for that communication.

We still strongly encourage residents (and continue to urge families to encourage residents) to take all precautions to prevent or mitigate the spread of the virus by:

  • Limiting time in the building common spaces or not traveling off of Sherwood’s campus if at all possible, and staff can assist in obtaining any necessary items or performing any needed tasks;
  • Wearing masks when outside of their apartments;
  • Engaging in good hand hygiene; and
  • Practicing social distancing when outside of their apartments.

We continue to monitor our residents for changes in condition or signs and symptoms of the virus and will communicate any change to responsible parties and primary healthcare providers to discuss next steps

As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Russell Sylvester
Executive Director
